  1. wrap the dish in tin foil. Put it in a box and cover with towels.

  2. I've done this a lot.

Cookware or serving bowls with lids are a must (write your name on the bottom with a felt-tip marker)

Wrap the heated crockery with a cloth to keep it warm.  If you can use the cloth to secure the lid in place, so much the better.

You'll need a flat space in your vehicle to load bowls and pans.  I use cardboard boxes or rectangular plastic tubs.  That does several things: it keeps bowls from sliding around and tipping over; and if something does spill, it helps confine the mess.

Pack hot things together with other hot things.  Likewise, pack cold things with cold things.

  3. Disposable Styrofoam plates and boxes work great and you dont have to do dishes after the party :)

  4. line your trunk with layers of newspaper.  put down a couple of large thick bathtowels.  put the sealed containers on the towels and then cover with a clean old blanket.  drive slow and avoid the big bumps and potholes.  you should make it there ok.
