  1. Between the strip and downtown ( I assume you mean Freemont St. area) I suggest the Deuce.  There are airport shuttles that run downtown also near freemont, as well as cab stands.  Believe it or not, your best bet may be a Limo in Vegas.  I am not sure what a trip to Freemont Street would cost but for $65 or so you can take as many as 6 people to the strip.  That is as cheap as the airport shuttle!

  2. The best way to travel from the airport is by taxi, I don't know if there is a shuttle that goes downtown.  But a taxi would cost about $20 to get downtown and you would have to leave a tip on top of that.  We usually stay at Excalibur, so it only costs $10 for us from the airport.

To travel between the strip and downtown, I would definitely use the bus.  It's only $5 for a 24-hour pass (or $2 for one ride), and it can let you off at any location on the strip. Here is the route map for the strip http://www.rtcsnv.com/transit/route/deuc...

I personally prefer to stay on the strip.  But most of the stuff I enjoy doing is located on the strip also, I only visit downtown one night during our trip, and the transportation time alone would take up too much time if I stayed downtown.  But I'm sure downtown is just as much fun, although smaller than the strip.  Also, you could consider, would you rather stay in one of the newer Las Vegas themed hotels, or a classic downtown Las Vegas hotel?

For cheaper rates on the strip use this website

http://smartervegas.com/  Using this, we never stay for more than $51/night.  Excalibur is currently offering rooms from $41/night.  Harrah's offers them from $45/night, Tropicana offers them from $39/night (not currently), Bally's from $50/night

  3. Take a limo. Tell the guy $25.00 and youre off! No meter!!!

  4. I have had the best results from the shuttle services. The only times I found the traffic impossible would be rush hour in the morning and happy our in the evening.

As far as downtown, the Fremont Street experience is something different. There is no open container law for the covered area of Fremont street, You can take your drink and walk from one place to another any time you want. The Gold Nugget is the best place to stay there. Check Yahoo Travel for the hotel ratings. There are some that are a disaster.

The shows are good, but they are not headliners.

  5. Rent a car, I go there twice a year and it always works out cheaper and also you can rent a car for as low as $10.99/day. Good luck.

  6. If you have not been to Vegas before stay on the Strip you will get a good room for a good rate if you stay downtown and visit the Strip you wish you had stayed on the Strip. I love downtown and I will stay there for a couple of nights generally when I am in Vegas for a long time but would not stay there otherwise.

  7. That's easy! Just take the CAT bus system. They have direct routes between Downtown & the Strip as well as between the Airport and Downtown and the airport and the strip. Using the CAT bus is by far your best value. A 24 hour unlimited ride pass is only $2.50. Taxi's or shuttles would cost you a lot more. Plus with the CAT system you can travel virtually anywhere in the Las Vegas area as they operate nearly 50 routes throughout the region.

  8. Downtown hotel rooms are cheaper but spend all your saving going back and from the Vegas strip. From the airport to downtown, you can either take a shuttle or a cab, Shuttle should cost about $10 Here are the cab fares. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/taxi-fare...

You should consider staying on the strip. You can get rooms at the Monte Carlo for $52 /night. Here are the codes to get these low rates, http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/las-vegas...
