Now that the Bangalore New airport is expensive and far, it is better to travel by Shatabdhi Express train. It is 5.30 hours flat you are inside the Bangalore City.

By plain it is about

1 hour travel in Chennai,

1 hour waiting in Chennai Airport,

1 hour flying time in (ATR flights),

30-45 minutes in Bangalore airport,

1 hour travel time in Bangalore airport to city...

calculate it is better to use Shatabdhi Express EC Couch which is really very good and half the air charges.

There are many options...by best way, am not sure wat u mean..

Fastest - you can take a flight

Cheapest - Take a bus from "koyambed" bus terminus or take the train (takes around 6-7 hrs i guess)

If you like to drive - you can drive there by car....
