Question:

Best way to unstick a frozen mop bucket wheel?

Wheel is similar to a skateboard wheel -- the ones from the 70s. The hard concrete-looking type. It has frozen and will not roll. It makes it a nightmare to push the mop bucket around at work.

What's the best way to unstick this wheel? It has a cylinder through the middle of the wheel with what looks like some kind of permanent nut thing (not one I can remove and put back).

  1. maybe it is time for a new bucket

  2. got any wd-40? or since your at work got any metal cleaner? thats what I use, works just as good at wd-40

  3. spray it with wd 40 or pb blaster and don't be shy with it

  4. The best thing to do is to replace the wheels or the bucket if lubricating them does't work.

  5. My first attempt would be to try hitting it sideways, tapping with a hammer.  That might suddenly release it.

Or, if it has slowly become stuck, it may just need lubrication and getting "worked" some.  WD-40 might work, but Liquid Wrench is probably more fitting.  Squirt, wait a minute, and then, with vise-grips, try to get it turning.  Once you can move it some, go for the WD-40, and continue the process.
