  3. Ansil,

I suggest deciding what fish you want to catch (or at least verify whats in the lake) Panfish will bite on wax worms, minnows, worms/crawlers, or sometimes corn from a can.  You can also purchase artificial wax worms, those work well too. If there are places where muddy water enters into clear water, try right at the color change.

Most panfish will also bite on crawler harness, walleye rigs, and spinners. Try various speeds until you start catching fish. If there is a weed line, throwing the lure parallel would be your best bet. If you cannot get that, keeping your lure right above weeds usually works.

If there are bottom dwelling fish the corn will work well most of the time. You can also try purchased "stink bait" or see if your parents have any type of flavored oils.  I know one person that swears by a small piece of sponge sprayed or dipped into various flavored oils.

As it gets darker, fish tend to move towards shore. At this time, crayfish can be a good choice. If there are large bass in your lake, use larger crayfish.

The website below might give you some additional bait choices
