Best website that provides gun parts and "its functions"?

i'm looking for a website that can explain about the "main function" of gun parts and the effects of the modifications that can be made on the gun part. specifically semi automatic pistols (armscor 1911a1 and tarus pt140)

Your best bet is the exploded view and parts list from the manufacturer.

The only parts that I know of in any 1911 that can be modified are the sights, recoil spring, mag spring.

Example;

Change the sights

I trimmed 2 turns out of my recoil spring to stop it from jamming

I replace the mag spring with a stronger one to help the round lift faster.
