  1. You really should buy from someone local for a couple of reason.  First, there is no such thing as the perfect bike for everyone, just the perfect bike for you, and you'll need to be able to sit on it to make sure it fits you.  Second, buying locally will allow you to actually see what you are buying... simple as that.  Finally, a local purchase will provide you a place to take the bike to get serviced whether it is for warranty purposes or if the bike just breaks down... at some point it will happen and if you dont buuy from someone local, you'll be left high and dry.

  2. At a dealer with a service department.

  3. Not a good idea, How can you tell how it runs on a website? And pictures are phonied up on a daily basis.  Stick with face to face purchases. And even then take someone along with you that knows about motorcycles.  If nothing else, to drive your car or truck back home while you ride the motorcycle.  (You are a buyer, RIGHT?)

  4. I've bought and sold on ebay with no troubles.  My husband bought a lemon off ebay that seem to work just fine on pick up and payment, so in that respect a local purchase on that bike would have been just as bad since it appeared to work fine.  Unless you bring the motorcycle to a mechanic there is no difference and you can do a local search on ebay to only find cycles in your area and go look at them before purchase.
