  1. It depends on where you are at, and how far you want to drive.  There is the Delaware River, along the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the Deerfield River in northwest Massachusetts, the Hudson River near Lake George, the Kennebec River, Dead River, and Penobscot River in Maine, the Lachine Rapids in Montreal Quebec, the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania,Ottawa River at Calumet Island in the Whitewater Region, Ontario , and the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania.

It also depends on the time of the year you want to go.  In the summer the dam release rivers are flowing, some rivers are best during the spring melt, and others only during the rainy season.  Almost all of the sights mentioned above have good camping.

  2. West Virginia's New & Gauley rivers are hands down the best rafting to be had in the east. The Upper Gauley is very intense and not recommended for first time rafters. However, The New River is more user friendly to beginners. There is allot going on in the Fayetteville area. It is the hub for outdoor adventures in the east. Great camping and rafting! It is also well known for its excellent climbing. I still travel there, from Colorado, each fall for some climbing and of course the Gauley season. Absolutely beautiful area! Have fun!

  3. A great place in Maine is in a town called The Forks.  Rafting is on the Kennebec River with great rapids.  I would recommend c**p Apple Whitewater, I've been there twice and had a blast each time.

  4. By far the Penobscot river in the forks of Maine. Or if you can get in on an October dam release on the Dead river in the forks of Maine.

I personally recommend these people www.proriverrunners.com/index.php?page=h...
