Betfair Pall Mall 2011- Chris Allsopp's Reigning Champ Ballymac Ace all set to repeat history by winning again
With the Betfair Pall Mall final 2011 just a few hours away, tensions among spectators and bettors alike are soaring high. With this heightened tension, anticipation about the outcome of the final race is rising too. Commentators say that last year’s winner,
Ballymac Ace, who is defending his title this year is a probable candidate for first place.
Running from Trap 5 last year, Ballymac Ace overcame all opponents and won by almost five lengths.
His performance throughout this year’s events too is a testament of his talent. In the semifinal, he was in Heat 3 which was the most competitive heat of the day with rivals such as Manolla Flash, Adams Honour, Perilous Guide, unbeaten Pams Tomjo and Slick
Stone.
He struggled hard to win the semifinal but tried to overcome Pams Tomjo at the wrong time and so could not win. He did however finish in second place thus qualifying for the final.
However the battle towards victory this time will not be easy for Ballymac Ace, seeing that he will have to face Pams Tomjo yet again.
Odds are if he was not capable of beating Pams Tomjo once, it will be hard to do so this time as well.
However, a stroke of genius or maybe just sheer luck might lead to Chris Allsopp's Ballymac Ace giving the unbeaten Pams Tomjo a taste of defeat.
What is even better is that this year he is running from Trap 1 and his record shows that he runs better when starting from Trap 1, in fact he has won four of five times that he has started from Trap 1.
Hence, if he could start from Trap 5 last year and still win, then starting from Trap 1 should mean there are greater chances of winning this time over.
It has been more than twenty years since the same hound won the Betfair Pall Mall two years in a row, and whether this twenty year curse will be broken or remain intact is yet to be found out.
Does Ballymac Ace really have the talent needed to win this big race, or was last year just a case or beginner’s luck? Tonight we shall find out.
