Betfair sponsors 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals – Snooker News
One of the renowned betting websites in the UK, Betfair has confirmed the sponsorship of the upcoming 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals which will be commencing from March 14, 2012 at the Bailey Allen Hall in Galway, Ireland. The event
will now be called, 2011-12 Betfair Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Final.
Snooker governing body across the globe, World Snooker announced details about the sponsorship during a press conference where the Chairman World Snooker, Barry Hearn and the Director of European and Emerging Markets, Matt Robinson were present. The event
will be featuring some of the most thrilling snooker matches among the top guns of snooker.
PTC Grand Finals will be launched after a successful completion of 12 PTC events in the current season. The potters who grabbed the PTC wins throughout the 2011-12 Snooker Season include Ronnie O’Sullivan (2 PTC events), Judd Trump (2 PTC events), Ben Woollaston,
Mark Selby, Andrew Higginson, Neil Robertson (2 PTC events), Michael Holt, Tom Ford and Stephen Maguire.
Betfair, with their contribution to promote the game and its partnership with World Snooker, is hoping for a positive outcome and believe that with mutual understanding with the governing body, they can play their role better in the promotion of the game.
Speaking to World Snooker during the press conference, Matt Robinson said, “Betfair is delighted to be associated with this event and in what hopefully will be a great week for Irish sport with Cheltenham and Six Nations Rugby, we are looking forward to
a tournament that thrills both fans and punters alike.”
Director European and Emerging Markets added, “The event is a great fit for our brand as we continue to grow our list of sponsorship properties. We hope this signals the first step of a long and productive partnership with World Snooker.”
The players in the fixtures of both rounds are lined up according to the final list of PTC Order of Merit. The Top 8 potters are placed in the quarter-finals while the cueists from Number nine to 24 are placed in the Last-16 round. There will be several
close encounters in the first set of matches while the contest will get tougher as it moves further in to the quarter-finals.
