Betfred Eclipse a prominent event in greyhound racing
Nottingham Stadium, a renowned greyhound race track, has organized many exclusive events, which are not only famous among the participants of the race, but also the fans of greyhound racing.
There are few events which are scheduled once a year due to its uniqueness and significance. Among these high status events is the famous Betfred Eclipse.
The Betfred Eclipse, a popular greyhound race, is held every year in the month of November, at the Nottingham Stadium.
The very first Betfred Eclipse race, was held in the year 1987. Trainer P. Ryan of Monmore won the event with his hound, Holiday Hope.
Winning this race not only helps achieving the purse, but the hound grabs the spotlight in the greyhound Racing Board Top Dog Competition, because they will be rewarded with value points in the competition.
The race is 500 meter's long with prize money of £11,000. Last year, the winner of the race was Nambisco who gave a hit under the trainer, Carly Philpott.
The white and brindle dog came second in the Heat 3 of Betfred Eclipse that was held on the 29th November, 2010.
He reached the finish line in 30 minutes and 85 seconds. Although he tried really hard to reach the wire early, with 1 length behind Mcgahon Toots, he finished second.
Nambisco qualified for the semifinals, which took place at the same venue on the 4th of December, 2010.
Trainer C Philpott’s dog finished first that night. From the start he was fast and swift to reach the wire and his total time in which he covered the 500 meter distance was 29 minutes and 80 seconds.
This victory led the hound in to the final, scheduled on the 9th of December, 2010. That night Nambisco not only made his trainer proud, but he was successful in taking revenge from Mcgahon Toots who defeated him in Heat 3 of Betfred Eclipse.
Through sources it has been known that this time Romeo Maldini, is being considered as the fastest contender of this event, punters are in great favour, of this five-year-old greyhound.
Betfred Eclipse schedules three competitions, the first event consists of heats, qualifiers of Heats race have to race in the semifinals, and the lucky ones who succeed in the semifinals compete each other in the finals.
Basically this event is one of those Category One races, which comprises of four bends, in which few honorable past winners take part.
Since many years this event is being sponsored by the famous Betfred, this United Kingdom based private company is book maker, which deals with betting and gambling in sports.
The company was founded in 1967 in Salford, Fred done is the co founder of this betting company.
Betfred is not only known for its sponsorship in greyhound racing, but for other league matches, the company has been famous all over United Kingdom for its success.
Like previous years this year also the event is being sponsored by the Betfred, the schedule of the event has been confirmed.
On the 18th of November, 2011, the heats will be organized at Nottingham Stadium and out of the total prize money of £1,800, £150 will be awarded to the winner.
The semifinal is scheduled on the 25th of November, 2011, at the same venue, and £1,050 is the total prize money and the winners will achieve the purse of £150.
Finals is placed on the 30th November 2011, £11,000 is the total prize money for the event, out of which £8,000 will be rewarded to the winner of the race.
