Betfred Steel City Cup has declared Mill Bling Bling as there champion this year
Trainer K A Macari’s black dog, Mill Bling Bling, started his chase from trap 2, fast from the start of the race. The star of the show gave a tough competition to the rest of the contenders by leading them from the start till he reached the wire.
Mill Bling Bling who finished first in the Betfred Steel City Cup's final at Sheffield on Tuesday night, was also the winner of the Betfred Steel City Cup 1st semi-finals, held on the 16th of the August.
The son of Bombastic Shiraz out of Respect For Lee, Mill Bling Bling covered the 500 meters distance in 29 minutes and 14 seconds to win a purse of £7500.
In the finals, there were six greyhounds competing for the prize money. Among them was trainer H F William’s Tudor Prince, who finished second in the race.
The three-year-old black dog was at the same position in the Betfred Steel City Cup 1st Semi finals. The unlucky dog was successful in reaching the finals, but he couldn’t grab the purse
Son of Westmead Hawk out of Old Fold, Tudor Prince started his run from trap 4, although his initial condition in the race was good, he suddenly got crowded in the race, reaching the wire 10 seconds later than the winner, Miss Bling Bling.
Tudor Prince was 1 ¼ lengths behind the winner, reaching the finish line in 29 minutes and 24 seconds.
The winner of the Betfred Steel City Cup 2nd semi-finals, Ballymac Xavi, managed to enter into the finals, but he was not able to compete well and finished third.
The son of Green Light out of Sterling Silver, Ballymac Xavi, started his chase from trap 3. The two-year-old black dog tried his best to grab the spot light but nothing worked out for him.
Trainer D Calvert’s hound was ½ lengths behind Tudor Prince and reached the wire in 29 minutes and 28 seconds.
Trainer H Crapper’s Frisby Fontenblu, who finished first in the Betfred Steel City Cup's Heat 1, was the fourth one to reach the wire.
The four-year-old started his chase from trap 1 and was 2 ¾ lengths behind Ballymac Xavi. He reaced the wire in 29 minutes and 10 seconds.
Droopys Cristian, who gave a head to head completion to Frisby Fontenblu, finished fifth, covering the distance in 29 minutes and 12 seconds.
The last one to finish was trainer R Warren’s Sporty Fortune, 1 ½ length behind Droopys Cristian. He was slow from the beginning and covered the distance in 29 minutes and 24 seconds.
Apart from the winner, the hound who finished second was rewarded £750 and the third position holder got a prize of £500. The hounds who finished fourth, fifth and sixth were given £250.
