Bethlehem Catholic High School boys volleyball team defeats Emmaus in Lehigh Valley Conference final
The Bethlehem Catholic High School boys volleyball team had a night to remember on Wednesday.
The team was up against Emmaus in the final of the Lehigh Valley Conference. The two teams played competitive volleyball in a match that went on for five long and thrilling sets.
At the end of the event, the crowd of more than 500 spectators present at Liberty’s Memorial Gym was clapping in appreciation for Bacahi as they remained successful in defeating Emmaus by 3-2.
By the time that Becahi had started celebrating their hard earned win by thumping each other on the backs and Emmaus was vacating the courts with heavy steps, the scoreboard read: 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25 and 15-9.
After their recent win, the Golden Hawks have been able to improve their overall season wins to a figure of 16. These victories have been tallied at the expense of incurring impressively minimal amounts of defeats that total to be only one.
As opposed to the performance statistics of the Golden Hawks, the overall season record of the Hornets falls a shade paler. The number of times that Emmaus has been able to register victories equal to be 14. These wins have been accomplished at the cost
of experiencing only one loss in all.
The first set of the game started off with the Golden Hawks taking the lead early on in the first set of the game. As a result, they were able to put the pressure on the Hornets from the beginning of the set. For most part of the game, the Hornets kept trailing
the Golden Hawks. When the game reached its mid, the Golden Hawks had the lead with themselves at 20-15. They were able to extend their advantage quite comfortably and bag the first set of the game at 25-21.
Like the first set, the second set progressed on the same note. The Golden Hawks kept the lead with themselves while the Hornets kept on trailing. Consequently, the second set was also won by the Golden Hawks at 25-21.
The loss of the first two sets did not sit well with the Hornets and they stepped up their game in the third. After a tough competition, the Hornets were able to bag the third as well as the fourth set of the game at 25-22 and 25-23 respectively.
However, the fifth and the final set was bagged by the Golden Hawks at 15-9.
At the end of the match, Coach Jeff Koch of Becahi said, “I think this is the best match we've played all year. We had a good practice yesterday. It was all strategy. We had pages and pages of scouting reports breaking down what Emmaus does, and for the
first two games we stuck to it.”
