Londoners - what do I do? Similar priced flats one in Angel another in Bethnal Green (old council block - with some original residents)... Where would you live?

  1. depends were you have to get to work, and were you have to get back from going out in an evening. Angel is full of antipedians.

  2. I would go for Angel, ask about re-sale values in that are but it depends on what's happening in Bethnal Green.  With an ex-council flat you might also have to look into what extra costs are attached outside of the purchase price including maintenance costs, if there's refurbishment/rejuvenation plan in place as you might find they'll compel you pay for something you don't necessarily want doing.

Edit: some of the red brick Council buildings look well & age well.  Some of the monstrosities from the sixties I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.  Is the ex-Council block now under a housing association?  What's the condition of the exterior like?  Do they plan to do it up any time soon?  What's it's like inside?  Are the halls & communal areas well kept?  Is there a janitor?  What's the security system like?  These are all questions I would ask.  Is there any survey you can access to see how sound the building is?  Again, with ex-Council you need to look at the re-sale value.
