Betta Blowing Bubbles

I just got a Betta fish yesterday; this is the first betta that I have owned. He has been going to the bottom of the bowl and blowing bubbles up to the top and popping them, he has always been doing this thing that looks almost like hiccupping. Is this normal? What is he doing?

  1. its probably making a nest... I dont know why though if there isnt a female there with him....hm......

  2. Most Likely He's Going or trying to Create a Bubble Nest So He Can Have Children. When it Pops It Should Be natural.

  3. He is just amusing himself.  Bettas tend to blow bubbles when they are happy.  They can do it at the surface or they can do it deeper in the water.  Bettas are intelligent fish and each one has its own unique personality.  Getting to know the quirks and oddities of your own betta is part of the fun of owning one.  It sounds like yours is quite the little character and has invented a little game for himself.  Enjoy him!  :)
