Betta Fish Eating Problems?

-I have a male betta fish(not crown tail)

-I got him 4 days ago

-he ate the food the first day and the second

-I use betta fish flakes

-stopped eating

-his body was white but now is more purple

-I use water conditioner and fish bowl cleaner

-when I clean his bowl

-I clean it regularly

-so he can't have ammonia or anything like that

  1. not hungry they eat very little  


  2. Your betta might be constipated or a picky eater. Try feeding him other foods.

  3. You shouldn't have it in a bowl. Bettas need a 2.5 gallon minimum tank WITH a filter and heater.

    And you can't clean the bowl regularly because it'll get rid of the bacteria that removes ammonia and nitrite. There will always be ammonia in there since you clean out the beneficial bacteria that is being created.

    If you move the Betta to a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and heater and only change the water once a week with a gravel siphon, then he'll start eating because he's in the proper habitat.

  4. He may not be hungry. Also, let him be for 24 hours and then feed him. Sooner or later, his stomach will get the best of him. Also, make sure that the water temperature stays the same ALL the time.
