Question:

Betta Food Question...?

I bought (easy serving dispense) Betta FLOATING MINI PELLETS to change up from the HBH Betta ColorBright with Flake Treats. He takes a pellet in and then spits it out, and repeats this action a few times with each pellet. Is this normal?

Also, before purchasing the Mini Pellets, I was giving him the ColorBright with Flake Treats only once a day with nothing else. I've had him for over 9 months with no problem. Was/is this OK?

Any additional advice on food is welcomed.

  1. thats exactly what my betta does and i just got him yesterday.

i guess he wants his food softer

  2. mine does the same its all normal

  3. THe food might be too big or too hard for him...

Both ways, it is still normal... Sometimes, big insects will fly into my tank... haha... My betta literally jumps out and bit it... After that, the insect will be struggling on top of the water...

My betta then big and spit, bit and spit till the insect is dead. After that, he will bit and spit again till it becomes smaller n eventually, ends up in my betta's poo... =)

    RELAX!! and all the best!

  4. the food is very hard, so it is normal for him to chew it up and spit it out to try a and soften it.

Also, once a week you can give him frozen bloodworms as a treat.=)

  5. The pellets are very hard and he's making them softer. I usually get a bowl, add water. Then put a 3 pellets in the water for a few seconds. It made a difference. He's lived this long you must be doing something right :) Good Luck

  6. yes that's absolutely normal

it helps him to get the food softer for him to swallow

as for feeding, try to give him a variet diet

you should also feed him about once or twice a week with frozen bloodworms or brineshrimp as a treat
