  1. i had three bettas in little tank things and they didn't even have a filter or anything to move the water around. they all lived for like four years!!!

  2. Thats perfectly fine.

  3. you dont need a heater, unless it gets very cold. the filter is perfect for a betta because it moves the water around. some people dont even use filter or air pumps for them and everything is just fine, they are tough little fish.

  4. A betta is at it's best when kept in a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter.  They enjoy a water temperature of about 80F.  A small tank will not cycle even if it has a filter and needs to be treated as a bowl and cleaned every 3 days.

  5. You should get a thermometer for the fish tank, but you don't need a heater. The thermometers are made for fish tanks and have a green area for the best water temp for fish. Bettas are good at room temp.

  6. Bettas prefer warm water I believe around 65-80 F. He might get a little sluggish in colder water, but chances are your water will be room temperature, and unless you are keeping your thermostat insanely low, he should be fine.

  7. you dont need a heater but thats fine if you have a filter sometimes bettas really like that so it might make it happer
