Betta fish question?

I just got a young betta fish about a week ago and I'm just curious, are they normally extremely timid when they are younger? I've had a betta before and I noticed that when i came a few inches from the bowl he'd swim up to me, or follow my hand around. I noticed with the little one he swims to the other side of the bowl or hides behind the plant.

  1. Give him a few weeks. Once he figures out you are the one that gives him food, he will learn to swim up to you!=)

  2. It will take a little time for him to get used to you and the tank.  Then he will be very sociable.

  3. hes just a little baby. come up to the bowl slowly and just let him do his swimming thing for now, im sure h**l warm up to u once he knows u wont hurt him xD
