My betta has been very sick. After 3 weeks of frequent water changes, salt, etc. I decided to medicate him with Maracyn Two after I spoke to a man at Tetra Care Help Desk. Then, I moved on to use Maracyn. The treatment ended yesterday. No response, my betta is still sick and now appears to have a white ring at the end of his tail and then the tail looks burnt. About a centimeter or so, very small. I was thinking maybe becasue of the medication. So, I had another talk with the Help Desk and we both agreed to let the fish rest without meds and change his water and add some salt. This seems to be the last resort. Since the other fish I had with this condition just died. They are in separete tanks but when they both appeared healthy I used one siphon to clean their tank. What could be the white ring and other part of the tail be caused by? Could it be what I think?

  1. This sounds like a possibility of two things, which have the same treatment.

    1. Fin Rot

    2. Another type of bacteria infection

The treatment: Let your fish rest for a few days with frequent water changes and salt and then try using some melafix.

    I hope this helps!
