  1. I always have a betta in my big tank.  He will be just fine as long as there is only one betta.  He may be aggressive towards really frilly fish, or could be attacked by other aggressive fish.  As for general health though, he should do just fine.  Make sure you have plenty of low plants as they like to hang out around the bottom of the tank in foliage.

  2. He will do fine in a tank with a current as long as the tank is heavily planted (this reduces the current a little, and gives the fish a place to rest.).

However, I don't think he'd be okay in your tank, because the barbs/angels might nip at his fins. You might also get a problem with the mollies, because Bettas can sometimes decide that they don't like brightly coloured tank mates.

However, that depends on the fish, and the tank.  Your tank is a good size, so he might be okay. I personally wouldn't risk it, though. If you want a labrynth fish, I would reccommend a Dwarf Gourami instead. :)

If you already have him, you could try putting him in the tank inside a clear bag, and observing his and your other fish' reactions. However, I've never tried this so I don't know whether it would tell you much about what would happen once he is out of the bag.

  3. Bettas will not be happy with other fish, I can tell you that first off.  They will always be stressed out and that's really bad on their immune systems.  If I were you I'd take him out and put him in a 1 gallon bowl or mini tank.  If you're going to keep him in there (and not have a happy little betta)  then watch to make sure he doesn't get swept away by the current, if he's having problems turn the current down.

  4. We had a betta in a 4ft tank with a fairly strong current, 2 angels and 5 rosy barbs and he was fine.

You might want to get a few more rosy barbs so they spend all their time chasing one another instead of bothering other fish.

  5. Please don't put one in that tank. Barbs are fin nippers and will constantly chase him and eat all his fins. The current should be OK but please don't

  6. As long as there are areas with slow moving water, the current is the least of your worries.  The Betta's long fins will be a perfect target for the Angels and probably the Rosy Barbs as well (though not nearly as much as some other Barbs).  You would end up with a finless Betta in very short time, and you may even end up dealing with infected wounds.  I really wouldn't recommend it...

  7. Yeah he should be fine. Possibly watch the angels as they might be seen as a threat to the betta and he might get angry at their finnage. You should plant the tank because it creates a more natural and peacful environment for your fish and a place to hide too.

  8. male betta with long fins may get problems from strong water currents. in nature, bettas are found in small ponds of stagnant water or mud.
