Everyone always says you need a 5 gallon filtered heated tank for your betta but my betta lives in a 2 and a half gallon tank and it seems to me that he's the happiest betta in the world, he's in constant motion from the time I wake up until the sun goes down. He follows my finger and builds GIANT bubble nests so as far as I'm concerned as long as your betta isn't in a little bowl size doesn't matter., this isn't much of a question as it is a statement up for debate.

  1. 2.5 gallon is fine for a single betta, just don't go smaller than that.  Hopefully, you have a heater to keep your water between 78F - 82F because betta fish do best in tropical water temperatures.

  2. Wow----Betta's are the easiest fish to keep alive with minimal things like filtered heated tank. Some people say Goldfish are the easiest, but I have had a couple of Goldfish and they all easily died.

If you ever seen the beginner tanks for Betta Fish---I have one of those with a divider and a top to it wit to little holes in the top. I've never heard of them having to need a 5 gallon tank. I have had my two Betta Fish (male, and female on the seperate small sides) since December 2007, and their still alive and very much active in their tiny tank---PLUS, I don't have a heater but they are on a counter where they can get some sunlight into their tiny tank) So I totally agree with you---a little bowl size doesn't matter with Betta fish.

  3. A 1 gallon is fine as far as I'm concerned!!

  4. those ppl just think they need lots of space...wow I have put 9 goldfish in a 3 gallon tank and they are always fine....just buy a goldfish bowl...they dont need that much space for one betta...

  5. I had a 2.5 for one betta. That will work fine
