I have always heard that bettas should be kept in 78 to 82 degrees but my betta is most active in 72-74 so is it ok to keep him in such a low temp?

  1. They are tropical fish and prefer temperatures in the range of 74-80* F. So if you keep yours at 74, then yes he should be fine. Do you have a heater or is it being regulated by room temperature?

  2. if your are only housing a betta in your tank, you really dont need a heater.  Just keep it at normal room temp.
