Question:

Betta underweight question?

So, I posted a while back about my betta, trying to get him the right tank. I finally got him a 1 gallon (not enough extra money for a bigger one :( .... ) He's got a water circulator, and I put a heater in there today. (the heater's for 2-5 gallons, couldn't find a 1 gal, and the ppl said it should do fine, it shuts off at a certain temp.)

So he's much more active, and I knew he had lost some weight, and he's finally eating again! But I don't know how much extra to give him to get his weight back up. I don't want to give him to much too fast..... Help???

  1. Feed him according to the back of the food container! 3 times a day, a little pinch should be PLENTY.

Also, don't worry about his tank size! One gallon is HUGE for a betta. Betts fishes are originally from the rice pattys in Thailand. The ox who stir the rice leave foot prints in the ground when they are walking around stirring the rice. When the ground dries up in the dry season the betta fish are left in the ox footprints with water, and literally have to lie on their sides in not much water and do just fine. Betta's prefer small tanks, because it mimics their natural habitats!

  2. you do not give him extra you can feed him a couple times a day but give him no more than he can eat withen 2 minutes

also keep and eye on the ammonia level do not wash the gravel do partial water changes the ammonia level will rise then drop to 0 when the tank has finished cycling

and because of the tank cycling you need to be very carefull how much you feed

  3. Feed him twice a day and make a mix of flakes, bloodworms and daphnia. x3 That should put some meat on his bones, it does beautifully for mine.

  4. Feed your fish two times a day at about 1 small pinch of food each time.
