  1. Because Bettas are so aggressive they should be kept in their own enviroment.

The small betta bowls are also not recomended. I would say at least 1 gallon of water with a good filter is best.

On a personal note....I actually have been able to keep bettas in community tanks for years with no problems.

As long as the other fish do not have flashy long fins, swim slow, or nip at the long fins of other fishes your good to go.

I had bala sharks, small tetras, and some bottom dwellers in a 29 gallon with my red betta "Franando Bobby" he lived for 5 years.

  2. Well the problem with betas is they are territorial so the more room you have the less problems you will have but the best option is to put fish with small fins in with them so they don't attack them

  3. Bettas are very aggressive and very territorial so any thing with long fins is not really a good idea, one thing i have also learned is that a Betta should be the last fish you put in a tank as he would make his territory where he wont be bothered and it would be based around the other fish in the tank.

The main fish i wouldn't put a betta with are : Angel fish

    gouramis

    swordtails

    Guppies

    Tiger barbs

    other male bettas

    Other territorial or aggressive fish

    ghost knife fish

    hope this helps

  4. if u have  a tank less then 10 gallon then don't even think of keeping another fish along with betta.

in case if its more than 10 gallon, u can keep any fresh water community fish. but again the problem is that.. mostly if u keep more number of community fish then there are chances of these fishes nipping the fin and injuring ur betta severely. but mostly community fishes do well in large groups ..say more then 10 in number. if you choose to keep less fishes then they may be stressed due to small group. and die soon or may be prone to some kind of sickness.

but i have seen people keeping white clouds (three in number) and i have heard they get along very well and they are very hardy fish too. but still i have my doubts (after i kept 5 neon tetras with betta and they all ganged up and attacked my betta).some people have had luck with keeping betta along with other fishes but mine din't...

what i would like to advise you is to keep ur betta alone in its tank..maybe u can fill it with some decorations to make the tank look interesting. if u like other fishes then just get another community tank...

    hope this helped you
