i don't understand why people think bettas can live in a bowl. like a half gallon one. and be fed scarcely twice a week, or oooh "if you get a plant you never have to feed it". since when do bettas eat PLANTS!? yeah, i'd eat it too if i were STARVING! really people don't do research and pet stores give people bad info. i would like people's opinions on the matter.

  1. i know! i especially hate seeing bettas in those little tiny plastic containers in pet stores. they're usually filthy, and those things being so tiny makes it worse!

  2. I think bettas need a minimum of a two-gallon tank WITH filtration and heating. They definately need betta food as well!

  3. Betta's like to be living in smaller spaces-large aquariums stress them out. Yes, they eat plants and fish food. I don't agree with keeping them in a tiny cup, but a bowl is acceptable.

  4. yes i agree with you completely but that is the only fish that can actually survive in those types of conditions and that is why they are kept in those conditions even thought it is not right.

  5. You mean well, but people will never learn. People don't realize bettas to best in 5+ gallon tanks, and that they can actually be community fish. I applaud you for taking the time to write this.
