Question:

Better at 500cc? Suzuki 500f or Kawasaki 500r?

To start off..I'm 6'3" so comfort definitely comes into play. I have heard that the Suzuki GSXR600 is a "small" person bike so I can only assume this is the same for all.. but, I sure hope not because I love the way the 500f looks.

Also, I'm a novice rider with barely any experience.. I know 500cc is a little high to start with but the fact is I don't have the time or money to get a 250cc to just upgrade a few months later.

I'm just asking for a simple break down of the two bikes regarding comfort, speed, handling, etc.

Thanks!

  1. i'd take the kawi...between the 2, it's an all around better bike...

i started on a kawi, and upgraded to a honda...

  2. both are about the same.  i would go ahead and get at least a 600.  you will be at the same place in a few months with the 500 that you would with the 250.  you don't have to get a gsxr or r6, there are other 600's that make good power and you will be able to ride a lot longer than the 500's. check into the katana 600, yzf 600r, or the cbr 600 f4i.  you would probably want to ride one of these bikes or others longer the 500's.

  3. Both are about the same.

If the Suzuki 500F were really superior to the Kawasaki 500R, everyone who would buy a 500 CC sport bike would buy the Suzuki.  Kawasaki would be forced to stop making 500 CC sport bikes because no one would buy them.  Last time I looked, Kawasaki was still making 500 CC sport bikes.

At the same time, if the Kawasaki 500R were really superior to the Suzuki 500F, everyone who would buy a 500 CC sport bike would buy the Kawasaki.  Suzuki would be forced to stop making 500 CC sport bikes because no one would buy them.  Last time I looked, Suzuki was still making 500 CC sport bikes.

Don't get so obsessed with the make of the bike.  All of them are good.  You should also consider Yamaha and Honda.

Go to the dealers and sit on a few. If you are a licensed rider, take them on a test ride.  Get the one that is right for YOU.
