  1. I saw an article the other day that is claiming that blu ray is going to win out over HD dvd.  According to how old you are..........  VHS won out over Beta.  They are now claiming that blu ray will win out over HD dvd.

  2. As far as quality goes they are about the same. Blu-Ray has a little better storage capacity (50 Gigs to 30 Gigs. Speculative upgrades have these at 100 Gigs and 51 Gigs in the future.) and HD DVD machines have been ready with features earlier (though this year Blu-Ray catches up) But this no longer matters.

The better one is the one movies will be available in. The war is really over. Blu-Ray won

As of Fridays announcement that Warner would make only BD movies after May '08, the winner of the war has been declared. Blu-Ray. I thought it might take a year for it to happen but now I think it will be VERY soon that HD DVD closes up shop.

HD DVD was hit hard and is scrambling to recover. They were surprised by Warners move to back BD and even cancelled the HD DVD event at this years CES.

Warner chose to do this because Blu-Rays have outsold HD DVDs 2-1in the States, 3-1 in Europe and 10-1 in Japan and Australia.

Many people beleive that this spells the end of HD DVD and a win for BD, me among them

Furthermore Paramount and Universal, the only major studios still making HD DVD after May 08, announced 2 days later that though they have promotional commitments to HD DVD they are no longer exclusively tied to HD DVD. (No Blu-Ray release dates announced yet but this only happened last week) So now Blu-Ray has potential access to 100% of the movies out of Hollywood and HD DVD only about 25%. Game over.

  3. there is a big difference, for one blu ray holds more info on it than a dvd, and you can see a difference i have both hooked up to my hd tv and wow what a difference, i have hdmi cables hooked up to both also, blu ray is the way to go in my opinion

  4. Blue-ray is better because at comparison of the HD-DVD, blue ray has a progressive image and HD-DVD even so if has the same resolution, it's image is interleaved, and Blue-Ray has an amazing sound

  5. They're really about the same as far as picture and sound, but since all the big companies are going to Blu Ray only, I'd have to say it would be wiser to get a Blu Ray at this point.

  6. Video Quality= Tie

    DVD Titles= Blu-Ray

    Blu Ray=50gig

    HD dvd=25gig

Overall I would go blu-ray..... it will soon prob have all the major movies.

  7. To be honest, theirs no real picture quality differance, but protection (scratch proof) on the under side of the blu-ray dvd's are incredibly thin, as the disk is capable of 200GB storage, yet the HD DVDs are more or less a normal DVD with hight defanition video recorded onto them, th rreason that you cannot play a HD DVD on a Blu-ray player (and vise versa) is the softare on the disk it-self, if the players were compatible with both disks, there woud be noo problem.
