Tressel: Record at Ohio State-75-16

overall record- 209-73-2

National Championships -5 ( 4 at youngstown state, 1 at OSU)

Carrol: Record at USC- 77-14

Overall record(not including time in the NFL)- 77-14

National Championships- 1 and 1 split in 03'

There is little argument that these are the two preeminent coaches and programs in the country.

Both of these coaches have set up their programs to win their respective conferences every year. I thought about USC a lot yesterday, I mean, who wouldn't want to play there? Kids instantly become Hollywood celebrities, warm weather, beaches, babes, money, millionaires, nightlife. When you compare that with Columbus, well, you really can't. That is why I find what Tressel has done in columbus more of an achievment. He gets players to come to little old Columbus, where it's cold and there isn't much going on. Thoughts?

  1. ohio state has the better coach look at the stats and you can see that

  2. Last I checked, Ohio State is the largest public university in the United States, so that means it's bigger than USC's campus.

Columbus is far from a crummy little city and top notch players have been coming to Ohio State for decades. What school did the only 2 time heisman trophy winner come from?  That's right, Ohio State!!!

Have you ever thought that not everyone wants your "instant celebrity" status?  Maybe about the education they get?  So, since you can't speak for a city you don't live in, and a university you have never attended, let's answer your original question before you bashed Ohio State...

Both coaches have done outstanding jobs where they are at.  Tressel has built Ohio State back to the program it's always had the ability to be.  He has turned the table on the Michigan rivalry.  Carroll has also done the same for USC.  USC is a top team every year, just like Ohio State, and it looking to win a conference title, Bowl game and possibly a National Championship game.

I think it will be a good game, USC has the advantage playing at home.  I hope Ohio State wins, but I have no predictions nor am I going to stoop as low as others and talk trash...

  3. What about Bill Stewart? as a head coach, the man is running on a 2-0 record, the first game is the Fiesta Bowl.

    GO MOUNTAINEERS!!

  4. Eh, OSU is ranked higher than USC in many academic fields and Columbus isn't exactly a po-dunk town, so I wouldn't put too much weight on simply USC's location.

Anyhoo, both Tressel and Carroll are just really good at what they do.

  5. Tressel. He's dominated at OSU and he's 6-1 against Michigan.
