Better guitar?

which guitar has a better sound for rock music the gibson sg special electric guitar or a gibson les paul? and does it sound a lot better or a little?

the SG was made to rock! while the les paul can accommodate any style

either guitar has a great rock sound.  it really depends on what kind of amp you use to get the full potential.  the les paul was made to accomodate many different styles.  the SG was probably made for more rocky music but all it really is, is a les paul with a top cutaway.  my personal favourite is the les paul.  but SG's are awesome as well..... ANGUS YOUNG FRIGGIN RULES!

The SG was made for playing on stage.  They're lighter and therefore much easier to hold on your shoulder for an hour during a performance.  But because they are lighter, they lack the tone and sustain that you get out of a Les Paul.  I would say (as the owner of a Gibson Les Paul) that the Les Pauls have much better sound.  So of you're going purely on sound definitely go with the LP.
