Better to keep cigars upright or flat in humidor?

I am looking for a small cheap humidor and found two that I like.

One keeps them upright but it has and external display which I like. The other on is normal and keeps them flat.

  1. Horizontal or vertical storage of a cigar makes no difference.  Seasoning with proper monitoring and maintenance of the humidor are crucial.  65 to 75% humidity at 65 to 75 degrees F are ideal target ranges for your humidor.

Between the two you chose, I like the aesthetics of the upright.  Back up that analog hygrometer with a digital one (more accurate and reliable).  Both being lined with Spanish cedar and most likely made from laminated wood, the quality between the two from what I see will come down to the seal of the lid.

Guess the real question is which meets your personal tastes and fits into your decor ( and fits into budget).

  2. I have one of each the upright one is a lower end humidor but I haven't had any real problems with it. I prefer the flat one though because it holds more and I can keep the humidity level closer to what I prefer. The real answer is in the types of cigars you put in them, if you buy old or cheaper cigars they will not last as well. Good cigars should be ok in either on though.
