  1. It sounds like you really need to stake them.  Here's a tip I've heard from many sources for many years:  use those aluminum tomato cages and tie the plants on using ladies' stockings.  There's something about the electrical current between the aluminum and nylon which makes tomato plants grow full, healthy and gorgeous.

  2. Some varieties must be staked. Others stand upright all by themselves. Other grow best it you put straw around them. Do a  little research to find what is best for yours.

  3. Stake it.  They can break easily if left to sprawl.

  4. Drive a peg into the ground and run a string up from it to the top of a stake alongside the plant.  Keep feeding the plant top around the string as it grows and it will be fine. This is how professionals do it.

  5. Stake them. The tomatoes will rot if they rest on the ground.

  6. Everyone I know who plants them stakes them.

I'm not a gardener myself but a lot of people in my family are.

    Hope this helps!
