Better to start on a track or on the hilly roads?

I've been doing a lot of walking with the hopes of starting to jog. Is it better for me to start jogging on a high school track, or on the roads around my house? Would it be better to start on a treadmill?

  1. If you're just starting to jog you should avoid hills until your endurance is better and your legs get stronger. A track would be a good place to start, because you can keep track of how long you can jog without stopping and you can aim to beat that the next time. But if you get bored running in circles, you can run by your house, just avoid the hills at first. I prefer running outside to treadmills, because i like the scenery and i hate running in the same place because i get bored. Treadmills will give you even ground, but it's not too big of a difference. Most people prefer the great outdoors, but it's whatever you want to do. You can swtich it up by going outside some days and on a treadmill the next if change your mind. But definitely avoid the hills until you're able to run longer distances without too much of a challenge.

  2. well if your begining to job then i would say start iwth the track but if you want more of a workout, then hilly roads are great.  I personally don't like treadmills and find them harder.  good luck, hope this helps

  3. Hills are great for strength, because you have to work more muscles and run on your toes to ge tup them. Jogging on the track would probably be extremely boring, so I reccomend going on into your town, and run on the grass. There is less impact, and you can still get a good scenic view. I've always found that I run longer if I am running somewhere I can look around and take my mind off of things, especially if I'm comfortably running, not pounding my legs on a treadmill or a hard road

      Good luck! Hope this helps!!
