A group of six will be visiting next Spring, but we are split down the middle as to when we should plan our trip. Three want to come for the St. Patrick's Day festivities, the other three want to visit when the weather is a little better. I figured I would go straight to the source to get opinions. Thanks!

  1. I'll know more next week!!!

  2. when the weather is better for sure. unless you are planning on spending all of your time doing st. patty's day stuff, the nicer weather will open up your possibilities to do a lot of other sight seeing activities.

enjoy! i loved ireland. i might even relocate there. oh -- and i went to the west during my visit -- the dingle peninsula is very quaint and beautiful!

  3. Come in June.  The weather might still be c**p, but St Patrick's Day parades are mind-numbingly boring and all the shops will be closed.  And I don't know what the person above is talking about with regard to the seasons.  June is summer here, and more likely to be warm than March.

  4. If you'd like to see more sights and not feel rushed from one event to another, I'd say go in June, the weather's nice (except for ocassional showers) and you can immerse yourself in the TRUE culture of Ireland. But, if you wanna party and just see the modern culture of Ireland, go on St. Patrick's Day (there is more rain that time of year than June). I personally went to Ireland myself in the spring.

  5. St. Patrick's Day probably because you get more of the festival and see more of the culture. Plus you have to remember Ireland is on the other side of the world meaning the seasons are different then ours (there the opposite). If you go there in june you'll freeze your buns of! St. Patricks day actually is warmer. Right now the current high temperatures there is 9 to 18 °C so yep. St Patricks Day is a must! If you want to check the weather though go to this link - http://www.ireland.com/weather/

  6. The fact is if the weather is bad (and its usually blustery in March) you'll probably end up wet and miserable, but then again if you're lucky the weather could be clear and sunny, and those St Patrick's days are great but you would probably end up in tourists traps and get a warped view of Ireland

Personally I'd say come in August its when we get the best weather in my view
