At least he was willing to deploy. He very easily could've lived up the playboy lifestyle.

I bet Liz the First would've made Afghanistan glow in the dark.

  1. First of D.B. welcome back any chance of sharing some of that alleged loot you got when you allegedly jumped out of the alleged plane?  Sure, Good Queen Bess was stout hearted but I think she would have continued to reign under good counsel that would have taken a lot of factors into consideration.  As for Harry, give the poor kid a break, okay so he's royal, he's a male, has to put in time in some branch of the royal armed forces - no matter what he does he will always come under some kind of criticism.  Still, thumbs up to him for doing weed.  Now there's my kind of royal!

  2. Give Harry a break! He's done something that most of us would not do willingly. And, I hope people will start being kinder to him.

    best of luck to you!

  3. War is a political act, all and Kings, Queens and Princes are necessarily political actors.

Elizabeth had her half-sister executed because she was a threat to her throne.  Elizabeth took on the Spanish Armada, the greatest navy of the time,  and won.... pretty fierce warrior qualities to me.

It's great fare to watch Cate Blanchett railing away at the guy playing the Spanish Ambassador... could a scene like that have really taken place in the Elizabethan court?   Likewise, it's great fare to watch Harry, a junior officer, firing a machine gun out of a bunker...  ... a little montage for the press perhaps?.. In reality the Prince was serving indoors at the main base as an air controller.

In both cases it's all about politics, posturing and manipulation of the collective will of a nation.  Elizabeth prevailed over a lifetime of political duress.  Harry, a creature of privilege, hasn't had an inkling of a chance to test his mettle... although the personal tragedies in his life, like Elizabeth's probably help re. strength of character ...

  4. he should its always him who is picking

  5. Sorry, but this is a question that is impossible to answer.

We live in a far more violent society nowadays with far more deadly weapons. In Elizabeth I's day combat had to be hand to hand but nowadays one man with a remote control can kill hundreds of the enemy in one push of the button.

  6. Elizabeth was a woman...women didn't go to battle in those days. In addition, you must realize the only reason Harry is allowed to go to the front lines is because he is so far from the crown (both his dad and brother ahead of him). William and Charles are not allowed into battle like that. For the same reason, if Elizabeth had been a male, she wouldn't have been allowed by law to get that close to battle during her reign.

  7. Times have changed since then

  8. Elizabeth I
