I'm 6ft2ish and I play on a senior boys net. I can get high and kill the ball but i'm always looking ways to get better. I have a 'text book" (left, right, left, up) approach. i probly have a 12-14 inch vertical right now. Any tips you give will help. I knows it's hard to give tips if you can't see me hit.

  1. While practicing vball you should wear ankle weights. They vary from1 to 5 pounds, but they will increase your verticle up about 3 inches in just two weeks.

  2. practice jump roping, you can you the heavier ones. you can also hold a medicine ball and practice blocking. it helps you jump higher. you can do ladder drills (it may help your footwork, maybe not jumping). Also, u can jump up steps, skipping every other one. good luck, your so lucky to be that tall, where do you get your jeans!!!!!

  3. definitely plyometrics, at 6'2, its a series of different exercises and movements to increase your explosiveness, want better hops, you gotta be able to explode thru your hips

  4. Plyometrics. Look it up.

  5. This exercise worked for me:

Standing on the ground, push up so you're on your tiptoes then go back down.  You can do that exercise anywhere and whenever you're bored.  It really helps.  Good luck!

  6. For jumping, you want to develop fast twitch muscles.  That involves sprinting, hills, and jump-rope.  With the jump rope use only your ankles for the jumping.  Long distance running is a hindrance to jump training, you are developing your long muscles

To increase you vertical, you must practice a jumping high.  Wall jumps, max vertical 3x10 jumps every practice.

Also Spiking is different from blocking.  Get a hitting stand.  Start with the height lower to work on technique, then slowly raise the height until you max out.  I made on from a extend-able pole for a swimming pool and some PVC pipes.

  7. A DRILL YOU CAN DO TO HELP IS RUNNING UP HILLS .
