Last year it was a battle between four veterans, but this time it is a punch for punch fight between the two Europeans: Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell. However, Kaymer is the betting favourite as the player seems to possess
all the characteristics of a winner. His contemporary seems to be quite tense with the ‘No. 1’ fever that might run against his favour. To find out the names of the possible winners here are the betting odds for the tournament.
Graeme McDowell.
The player from Northern Ireland is in a powerful form, evident from his finishes in the last six months.  First, he triumphed at Pebble Beach where he lifted the trophy as the US Open winner. Then he grabbed a win in Valderrama
and high finishes in Singapore and the Hong Kong Open as well. The prize money earned from the tournaments got him the second spot in the Race to Dubai rankings.
The Andalucía Valderrama Masters Champion requires a top-three finish depending how Kaymer performs. Apparently, the Irishman is in form despite a cruel schedule and relentlessly being in contention.
He disclosed in Hong Kong where he seized the fifth place, "I have a few things to brush up on before Thursday, but, all in all, I have been driving the ball great, which is key to next week, and I'm feeling really good about my
game. I'm playing well enough to win next week and that's all I can ask for."
Moreover, he finished in the Top 30s in the same tournament one year ago, with a terrible start of 76. However, he tackled his game in the final 54 holes with a score of seven-under and got himself out of trouble. No doubt, it
has been a superb year for G-Mac’s career. He won a Major, two titles and earned a point, which served as a milestone in the victory of Europe against America in the 2010 Ryder Cup. This string of achievements has poured lots of confidence into the Irishman.
Martin Kaymer
Like McDowell, the current season has been memorable for the 25-year-old German. He chased his first major victory at the US PGA four months back. Later he grabbed three more titles on the European Tour. His sensational peak started
with a victory in Abu Dhabi, where he defeated Ian Poulter by a stroke. The German termed the course as not his type and despite that he won the tournament.
He said, “It is not really my type of course and it is not one of my favourites. You can't really see the golf course all the time and can't see the surface of the putting green when you are in the fairway."
Kaymer might not savour the venue, but his usual prudence will certainly help him achieve his goal.
On the other hand, Kaymer is quite stressed though. The same problem hampered him in Bermuda where he lost the PGA Grand Slam 2010. If Kaymer continues with his weak nerves then chances are that the veteran will lose his last chance
to override Lee Westwood as the new No.1. According to the PGA website, if Kaymer manages to fit his name in the top two, he will automatically qualify for the nominations of World No. 1.
This is it for the first half of the betting odds for the Dubai World Championship, which is being held at the Jumeirah Golf Estate in Dubai. The tournament will mark the official close of the European tour 2010 and will nominate
a new No.1 for Europe. To find out the complete betting odds, stay tuned for the second part to this article.
