When you bet, does the odds have to be higher at the bookmaker than the exchange or the other way round?

Please give example.

Etc, is this correct,

Karlsruhe v Schalke

At Coral, Schalke is 2.375 and @ Betfair it is 2.5. So do i make money.

Please explain.

  1. If you mean laying. Then if you bet at bookier at for example

    2.0 then in Betfair you should LAY(not back) at something below 2.0


  2. If the odds were higher with the bookmaker than on the betting exchange, then you could back with the bookie and lay the bet off on the exchange and make a risk-free bet. That isn't the case with the scenario you posted here though because the bookmaker odds are lower.
