Question:

Betting on horse racing at the OTB?

Say I want to bet on a horse whose odds are 10-1. If I place a $5 for win place show, then that bet would cost $15. If that horse gets show, then would I collect $50?

To put it another way, are the odds 10-1 for the horse to win, 10-1 to show, and 10-1 to place?

Also, does ANYONE chose a pick 6?

  1. Normally 10-1 pays $22.00 to win and 1/2 that to place and 1/2 that to show; actual payment depends on if a favorite cames in 2nd or 3rd .

So it would be approx= $22.00 win; $11.00 place; $5.50 show

  2. No, the place and show odds will be quite different than the win odds, because the pool totals are different, generally the place and show pay outs will be less than the win price.  Becuase you have more people betting on that particular situation.

  3. 10-1 is only on the win ticket you would have to check the place/show pool that's hoe the payoffs are calculated

  4. no 10-1 is just for the win bet
