Bettor's picks for US PGA Championship – Part 1
US PGA Championship is the last major of the season about to hit the Atlanta Athletic Club on August 11th, 2011. The top fifty players of the world will gather at the magnificent course of Georgia to fight it out for the title. Here is a look
at the betting odds for the event.
Steve Stricker
The American currently holds the world number five spot in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and is going strong since the start of the season. Stricker has had some decent results this year and his last ten events have seen the player finish in the
Top 20. Moreover, he won the Memorial and the John Deere Classic to enhance his portfolio. The only thing missing in his season chart is a major title.
Jason Day
The Aussie is climbing the Official World Golf Rankings with a speed that can only be matched by a Lamborghini Aventador. In January, he was nowhere to be seen in the Top 50 and today, Day holds the world number seven spot, with two runner-up finishes at
2011 Masters and 2011 US Open. Moreover, he was remarkable at the Players Championship and Bridgestone Invitational. However, there is one thing missing this season and that is his picture while holding a trophy. Being one of the hottest golfers in the field,
he is bettor’s second pick.
Adam Scott
If Day can have chances on the PGA Championship, then so can Scott, who recently won the Bridgestone Invitational after finishing second at the Masters. In addition to that, he has an edge of winning at this course a few years back, when it was not renovated.
Scott won the Tour Championship in 2006 with a lead of three strokes over Jim Furyk. Another clear advantage Scott has is his caddie, Steve Williams. Tiger Woods’ former caddie has brought a lot to the table and is seen as that impetus that Scott needed for
his title win at Bridgestone. The duo have struck an instant chemistry and will be the ones to watch this week.
Dustin Johnson
Known as the king of bunkers, Johnson knows how to tackle thick roughs, long pars and heat flows. He was superb at the Open Championship, which took place at a link-styled course and finished for a runner-up place. He has at least one win in each of the
last three years, but he is winless in this competition. Having all the qualities of a prospect winner, Johnson is the next man to count on.
Rory McIlroy
He was brilliant at the Masters, where he led until the final round and later slid into the bottom of the leaderboard after a tough day. He finished fifth at the Memorial, won the US Open and settled for sixth at the World Golf Championship Bridgestone Invitational.
Looking at the his form, the Northern Irishman is certainly up there in the betting odds. Moreover, his game suits the course and weather conditions in United States.
