Bettor Dot Com looking to complete Hove hat-trick
Bettor Dot Com’s preparations for the Sussex Cup continue on Thursday evening, as he faces his stiffest test to date in the Tithe Barn Trophy at Hove (21.07).
The promising puppy is looking to secure a hat-trick of wins, following his two previous successes at Hove in the last two weeks. As with his previous races an improvement is needed as he steps up in class, but this is a dog that is most definitely going places and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him go well once again.
PR Manager of Bettor.com, Jayne Clarke, suggests that although this race will prove a challenge there is nothing for him to lose. “He’s up against some pretty strong competition but we have a lot of confidence in him. He’s got a lot of energy and he’s never run in a race of this class so all we can do is give him our full support and see what happens.”
He will have to overcome some classy dogs though, as Boolavogue and Farloe Skywalker both ran in this year’s Derby, with the former making it all the way to the quarter-finals.
Despite the step up in grade, Bettor Dot Com’s trainer Tony Lucas is upbeat about his hound’s chances.
“He’s been as good as gold since his last race,” Lucas said.
“He’s only a young pup and he’s coming on race by race, this is another step up in class but he goes there in great form.”
The Basingstoke based trainer is clearly very excited about what the future may bring for the talented dog.
“I’m over the moon with him, he’s been working fantastically at home and everyone involved is looking forward to this next race.”
The seeded wide runner, who has been drawn in his favourable trap six, will go off a juicy price on Thursday but Lucas has revealed he could still be worth following.
“He’ll go off a big price, but it may prove wise to keep with him until he loses.”
