Bettor.com Premier League team of the weekend – Match Week 23
Another cracking weekend of football is behind us and all the Super Sunday matches ended in stalemates. However, there were some terrific individual performances.
We looked at those individuals who shone for their teams and have come up with a team of the Match Week 23.
Here is our final eleven:
Goal Keeper: Peter Cech (Chelsea)
The Chelsea shot stopper has looked one of the better http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 players recently, even though his teammates have failed to match his performance. He made two match-saving saves to deny Blackburn and save the blushes of his underperforming defence. A clean
sheet will do wonders to the confidence of Chelsea’s under-confident defenders.
Right Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809)
On a day when his centre backs committed errors and conceded two goals, the young scouser was brilliant throughout. He has played all three games under Kenny Dalglish and looked impressive yet again. He kept a close eye on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leighton-Baines-c21987 who has been terrific
in 2010-11 season, but hardly got into the game. His performances are sure to keep http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050 on the left or out of the team.
Centre Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 (Chelsea)
The defender was the reason why Chelsea secured a tense win over Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385. He scored one and then set up another to ease his way into our team of the week; a pretty easy choice for us.
Centre Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 (Manchester United)
One of the best performers of late, Vidic was a like a wall between Tottenham Hotspur players and United’s goal. He looked back to his imperious best as he held off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741 with relative ease and never gave anyone else any chance.
Left Back: Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham Hotspur)
He kept United’s player of the season, Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299, extremely quiet. A season where left backs have failed to stop Nani’s movement and dribble, the Cameroonian hardly allowed his man to get the better of him. His distribution of the ball was spot on as well.
Right Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 (Arsenal)
His performances in recent weeks have kept http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Bridge-c36733 a match to remember and completely dominated the right side.
Centre Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 (Tottenham Hotspur)
The little magician is such a delightful player to watch. Van der Vaart and Bale might have taken most of the limelight in the 2010-11 season, but Modric proved yet again that he is Spurs’ main man. His consistency levels are simply amazing and his performance
in a big match against United is sure to enhance his reputation as a world-class midfielder.
Left Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matthew-Etherington-c24822 (Stoke City)
The Stoke City winger has been their most consistent player in the 2010-11 season and he put in another great shift against Bolton to move his side level on points with Owen Coyle’s men. He coolly slotted the penalty to give his side three priceless points.
Right Forward: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 (Arsenal)
He was all over West Ham throughout the game and kept West Ham defenders busy. He scored two sublime goals and set up Theo Walcott for the other. He was unlucky not to complete a hat trick as he hit the woodwork once as well. His link up play with Cesc Fabregas
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 can take Arsenal all the way in the season.
Centre Forward: Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)
He is simply unstoppable at the moment. His first goal was stunning to say the least and he later grabbed another to take his tally for the 2010-11 season to 14. Edin Dzeko may have made the headlines before the match but the post match talk was all about
the Argentinean.
Left Forward: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 (West Brom)
The Nigerian had a dip in form recently but his two recent goals gave his team their first win in 6 Premier League matches. He has now scored 8 goals from 17 league appearances.
