The north London giants of Barclays Premier League, Arsenal will take on Everton in a crucial away fixture following their impressive win against Wolverhampton Wanderers during midweek’s fixture. Arsenal endured lack of possession and a physical approach
from Wolverhampton, but were able to contain Mick McCarthy’s men and secure their seventh win of this season.
However, Arsenal manager now turns his attention to an immensely tough encounter with an improving David Moyes’ side, which despite starting their season slowly, have begun to find their feet and will undoubtedly challenge the Gunners to the brink.
Everton will be boosted by the home ground advantage alongside recent good form against Arsenal. Arsenal manager, on the other hand, still boasts a heavy injury list and will be well aware a loss will ensure their title aspirations are all but decimated.
Last season, when Everton faced Arsenal, the Gunners thrashed the Toffees by six goals to nil and in the second leg, Arsenal again prevailed in an exciting encounter which ended up as 3-2.
Nonetheless, let's predict the starting eleven for Arsenal.
Goalkeeper
Arsenal’s first choice keeper, Manuel Almunia has returned from an elbow injury which he suffered against West Bromwich Albion last month. However, Almunia is unlikely to feature against Everton which means that Fabianski would guard Arsenal goal.
Moreover, Fabianski has also been in terrific form, after being named Man of the Match against Wolverhampton. Fabianski’s impressive form has cemented his place in the starting eleven of the Gunners and it would take something special from Manuel Almunia
to replace him.
Moreover, Arsenal’s current second choice keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, who recently signed a five-year contract, would deputise Lukasz Fabianski in the match.
Defenders
Once again, Arsenal most inspiring defender, Thomas Vermaelen would not feature against Everton as he is still struggling with his injury. The defensive leader of Arsenal has not played since August and is expect to return in December.
Arsenal’s summer signing, Laurent Koscielny will also play against Toffees as he has served a three match ban handed over to him in the match against Newcastle United.
As both of Arsenal’s predominant centre backs cannot feature, this ensures a starting eleven place for Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci. This pair of defence line-up put up a decent show against Wolves.
Quite surprisingly, Bacary Sagna was played during midweek’s fixture ahead of Eboue, which increases the chances of Eboue playing in a Super Sunday clash against Everton.
Moreover, on the left side of defence, it would be Gael Clichy who would play for Arsenal, instead of Kieran Gibbs, who just returned to full fitness this week.
Midfielders
Cesc Fabregas is fully fit and is expected to lead the Gunners against Toffees in a crucial away match. The midfield magician of Arsenal will start as the attacking midfielder.
While helping their captain in a defensive midfielder role, it would be Alex Song who would play as right defensive midfielder. On the other side, Jack Wilshere is likely to start as a left defensive midfielder.
Forwards
Arsenal’s young French sensation, Samir Nasri was benched in last match due to an injury but he is likely to start on the right flank.
As usual, Arsenal’s veteran left winger, Andrei Arshavin would sustain his place against Everton.
After two impressive goals that earned Arsenal three crucial points against Wolves, Marouane Chamakh is likely to start as a lone striker for the Gunners.
