  1. You will have no problem finding a job in either of these fields.  These two fields are the fastest growing occupations in health care now that more physicians are retiring and calls for more cost effective treatment.  When it comes to salary, I think it depends on what specialty you want to go into.  They will both make about the same and have equal job opportunities in primary care.  Nurse practitioner's however will have better jobs and higher salaries in pediatrics, neonatology, OG/GYN, and similar field.  On the other hand, PAs are able to go into surgical specialties which make the highest salary and they also have more versatility when it comes to switching fields.  It really depends on what you really want to do in the end.  Also nurse practitioners are able to be autonomous and open up their own clinic with a doctor readily available if needed.  PAs can be in a clinic by themselves but need to always supervised by a physician whether be by phone, e-mail, etc.  The ones I know work pretty autonomously though and the physicians trust them to carry out their work.  Like I said before, both are a good career choice and you will have no trouble finding a job in either.  It's really what type of health care you are interested in.  Good luck!

  2. You can not go wrong in choosing either.  They are almost even as far as salary is concerned.  Nurse practitioners makes a very small marginal more than a PA, but you should not have any problem in finding employment in either field.
