  1. They both are a great way to help lose weight. Both being cardiovascular exercises. Helping you to burn more calories in one sitting.  Getting your heart rate up.  Which means your blood is pumping. You are breathing hard, you are sweating and burning calories.

The benefits of exercise far outweigh the effort it takes.

But one thing you have to remember is. You need to combine exercise along with a healthy diet.  The two work perfectly together.   Then you will be able to lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume.  To lose a pound.  You have to burn through exercise or life functions around 3,500 calories.

Just by making the right food choices will help dramatically with your weight loss efforts.

Try to keep all junk foods, ready made processed meals, alcohol, sugared fizzy drinks and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum.  These are high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat.  These two ingredients will just go on adding those unwanted pounds.  Junk food is just what is says - JUNK.  With one added ingredient in - FAT.

Try to eat lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, low fat dairy products, skimmed milk and non sugary cereals.

Try also to include more wholefoods into your diet.  Such as brown bread, brown pasta, brown rice, beans & pulses.  These are high in fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Try to MOVE as MUCH as YOU CAN.  The body is designed to MOVE.

    Good Luck.

I know that this works.  I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months.  This was over 2 years ago.

  2.    ok, either one is good but MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL is to stop eating junk food and do not eat large quantities of health food either.  You are better off having 5 or 6 very small meals a day rather than 3 large meals a day. And keep exercising with treadmill or crosstrainer.

  3. 1.  The "best" cardio machine is the one that you actually use.  So pick your favorite, or do both.

    2.  To lose weight, assuming you are healthy, get your heart into the  cardio training zone of 70% of your maximum heart rate, and not just the fat burning zone.  You burn more total calories in the cardio zone.  As you get conditioned, you might find that the elliptical does not get your heart beating as fast as the treadmill , so you can adjust accordingly.

  4. Although both treadmills and ellipticals give you a solid cardio workout and will help you burn calories, you get more of a workout for what seems to be the same amount of exertion with an elliptical trainer. This is called the “perceived level of exertion,” and because it’s lower with an elliptical you are more likely to keep with it once you get started.

  5. Depends. The more you're willing to do, the more weight you lose. Machine doesn't matter as much, cross trainer or treadmill.

I'd imagine you want ot lose maximum weight possible in the shortest amount of time and effort. I would pick the machine in which you can exert the most amount of energy the fastest and tire yourself out quickly.

The harder you push without giving yourself a heart attack and make yourself super tired, the better. The treadmill or cross trainer will work for you either way and I'd just take the cheaper, higher quality machine you're looking at that seems SAFE to operate and use.

    Good luck.
