1. I would like to know the dividing line between hypocrisy and courtesy, because in many cases I feel that there is some two-facedness in people’s behaviour and dealings, based on their interests and whims and desires, and it is said that it is just courtesy. Is this true?

2. Is it possible for true friendship to be mixed with a little hypocrisy? I have a friend who does not love me as I thought he did. he held a special place in my heart that was shared by no one else, but recently I found out that my status with him is zero, and his behaviour with me for many years was superficial.

I thought, and everyone was certain about that, that our friendship was strong, and until now I do not know how to end this friendship after finding out what is really going on.

3. Can the way this friend behaved be regarded as hypocrisy?

4. What is the punishment for hypocrisy in friendship?.

  1. Yes, of course it's possible..

If he realize his mistake, forgive him.. But it's best u let him be, u can find other friends, much better and wiser.. Hopefully!

  2. Sallam my dear brother in Islam.

    1) No thats not true.. there is a fine line between hypocrisy and courtesy. At many times I also feel that my ''friends'' are two-faced people and change when they meet people that are better than me.. the question that comes into my mind is; why do they do this? Well the obvious answer is that they only do this because they feel that they are superior to you and have the capability of having friends better than you.. therefore your ''friends'' arent really your '''friends''. And those same friends then start going away from you and next thing you know they act as if they've never met you. : (

    2) I totally understand what you mean. The only thing you can do is forget about him and search for your TRUE friend. I repeat TRUE friend. I have gone through that too and I have finally overcome that stage and have found my true friends.. so I guess you gotta do that too.. just tell your friend truly why you dont want to be his friend and then just forget about him. . if he REALLY and TRULY is your friend then he will come back and apologise =)

    3) It CAN be regarded as hypocrisy.. I emphasise on ''can'' because true friends will never move away from you.. its the fake ones that never care.. so I'll leave you to decide : )

    4) What goes around comes around brother.

I hope I have answered your question and good luck with your friend... dont let this ''friendship'' business get to your mind.. you have your whole life waiting for you... I'm sure you'll find better friends..

  3. Let me answer your questions in one go - be courteous and polite while at the same time being brutally honest and truthful, even to the point that people will dislike your company, initially.  But once they know that you will speak your mind no matter what, they will learn to respect you and you will attract honest friends likewise.

  4. Arabic word is Nifaaq.

This means a person claim to be muslim and yet does not believe in Islam.

When word "hypocrisy" is used in Islamic context it has be considered as Nifaaq whcih has very specific meaning.

You should mix the general english term Hypocrisy and Islamic term Nifaaq.

To answer your question directly, simply remeber that you should not tell lies. If you are angry on a person yet to talk to him nicely and do express you anger, it can't be called wrong from Islamic point of view.

  5. Isn't the punishment beheading, like it is for every other petty arguement under Islamic Law?

You could also try genital mutilation of females, amputation of limbs, blinding, buggery, rape of pre-adolescent girls, stabbing or stoning.

All of these are typical muslim punishments.
