Question:

Between these Three Snakes, Which Type of Snake Should I Purchase ?

For a while now, I have had a sincere interest in snakes, specifically the Rainbow Boa. Needless to say I have never owned a snake before nor studied them much until I saw this kind of snake. After researching a little bit more, I'm finding that for someone who has never handled snakes at all this may not be the most practical thing to do considering size and care.

I've been checking and I see that a Crimson Corn Snake may be more more practical for me as a beginner. I would also like to know if a Milk Snake would also be a nice snake to consider ? It seems the Milk Snakes are much harder to find. Is this true? Are they even legal to be kept as pets ? I really like this snake so far best out of all.

Just wanted to receive some feedback as to which of these snakes would be nice to start off which considering my background and experience.

Also does any one know of any good snake breeders in the Northern VA, DC Maryland area ?

  1. I think a Corn Snake or a Milk snake may be good for a first snake. Youcan also try garter snakes, or ribbon snakes. We've had these and they are easy to keep. Just make sure to secure the lid everytime you open the aquarium. You may also want to consider getting a heat rock ( but don't leave it on all the time) We've had a few snakes over the years and always enjoyed them as pets.

  2. Personally, I would go for the rosy boa or the king snake, they are the best beginner snakes in my opinion.

Out of the choices you listed, get the milk snake. Corn snakes escape very easily, I know at least 4 people that have found their corn snake stuck in the vent because it got out of the tank at night.

  3. corns r great beginner snakes but are very squirmy, i hear garter snakes are good as well, i was going to get a corn but i got a caliofrnia striped kingsnake instead just got him but so far he is grrrrrrrrrreat he has never bitten someone in the petstore and hasn't bitten me yet either, kings can be very nippy when young same with corns! but u should consider the california kingsnake, i have a striped one but they are all the same. Many people will say ball python, but from experience i will say they are picky eaters, but still ok. The boa will get rather large just so u know im sure u do though. Snakes are great pets i think, they don't recwire much handleing and are pretty low maitnience. Im sure watever kind of snake u get will be pretty kool!!!!!!! wish u the best of luck with your snake, hope i helped, o yeah email on wat ya get

  4. A corn snake is very easy to find and is perfect for beginners.  Although One of my friends was thinking about one, then she talked to a boa breeder and found out about rosy boas.  They are the same size, however the rosy boa is more laid back.  I don't know about rainbow boas, but maybe comparing the rosy and the corn to it and find which one is the closest in temperament.

  5. corn snakes and milk snake is best for beginners. they are easy to handle and not aggressive. they can enhance your experience in rearing snakes.

they can also easily found in states.

rainbow boa is also good enough to be kept but the space requirement is a bit larger than the snakes that were recommended.

  6. I think a milk fish. that would be good!

  7. milk snake

  8. None!

    SNAKES EQUAL SCARY!
