Bevan concerned about sackings in English Premier League
The Chief Executive of the League Managers Association (LMA), Richard Bevan, has expressed his concerns over the recent sackings of managers without any apparent reason in the English Premier League. There have been quite a few incidents in the last month
or so, which have caused a lot of turmoil among the members of the Association, who want more stability and security regarding their job contracts.
The two recent incidents which compelled Bevan to speak against the sackings, were the departures of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385. There was a lot of hue and cry from the players and the fans alike following these
decisions. However, nothing could be done for those managers, and both have already been replaced by some new faces.
Bevan said that it was not the LMA’s goal to dictate clubs about how to make their policies. However Bevan demanded that the clubs should honour the contracts of their employees, and managers and coaches must be treated with respect during times of crisis.
Nevertheless, Bevan did speak about the problems with the current recruitment strategies being followed by the clubs in English Premier League. Bevan said that managers always needed time to adjust to a new team, and to transform them into a trophy winning
side. However clubs often want immediate success after hiring a manager, which is an inappropriate expectation from someone just joining the club. Bevan said that this was not a good way to treat  managers and coaches who have got a lot of talent, but are
not given ample time to prove themselves.
The LMA Chief Executive was particularly angry about the sacking of Sam Allardyce. Big Sam was fired from his job at Blackburn after Indian firm Venky's took over at the club. Bevan said that a manager’s job is always in danger after the arrival of new owners,
but the owners should not make such hasty decisions without considering the consequences. According to Bevan, the owners must take their time to understand the club, its culture and its community, before making decisions any decisions about the club. Bevan
claimed that the whole situation must change if English football wanted to grow in the coming years.
Bevan rejected the idea for a proposed transfer window for managers, saying that it would further threaten managers positions at their clubs. He wasn't very keen on the players transfer window either, and instead wanted good governance at clubs, and a stable
agenda for the managers to work there.
There is no doubt that the problem of sacking the managers has increased over the years, and clubs seem more and more impatient for success as the financial pressures have grown. Apart from performances managers also have to contend with the added threat
of a takeover at the club.
However not all new owners are the same. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 for instance have not sacked Roy Hodgson and instead decided to give him time to prove his worth. The owners knew that firing the manager would have a destabilising effect on the players, so such decisions
must be taken with caution. This problem should be solved if English football wants to keep up with the standards of other clubs in Europe. A manager is an asset for a team and he should be given due respect and a reasonable amount of time to prove himself.
