What a shock it was to check my paid in full cruise itinerary to find out that without notice or anything they just dropped a whole country (Ireland) and in it's place added another day at sea. Needless to say I CANCELLED my cruise and got a whole refund because it is still early enough. Please warn any potential travellers. I have never and will never book with RC again. Awful way for them to do business............

  1. That is not unusual for any cruise line.  I have been on several cruises where the port order and/or the itinerary was changed.  We just did a cruise on a NCL ship this past year and they canceled one of the primary port stops; they said because of terrorist threats and security concerns.  However we still see other cruise lines stopping in that port.

A couple years ago our cruise itinerary was altered due to bad weather and the result was we missed one port stop all together.  That was a NCL ship also.  Then a cruise we did a couple years ago the final stop was to be Dover, England, but due to bad weather the debarkation port was changed to Harwick and we had to scramble to find our way to the airport from the new location.  That was on a Celebrity ship.

  2. I am afraid that all cruise lines have the option to miss ports without notice. It is in their Terms and Conditions which you accept when you book your cruise.

You were lucky that you could cancel without losing anything, other people whose sailing dates are closer may not be so fortunate.

  3. I would post this at cruisecritic.com  so that other potential guests don't hink they are getting Irelnad

  4. Lew is right.  Every cruise line drops ports all the time, for various reasons.  You can never assume that you will stop at a particular port, so you cannot plan your trip around having to see a particular port.
