Question:

Beware of the trolls..

I don't just mean the annoying trouble makers. I am referring to the ones with lots of aliases who befriend people with completely made up lives (ie. premmie babies that are never mentioned again, multiple sets of twins (although some are legit), kids with cancer etc.)

I recently discovered several of my contacts were the same person with fabricated lives.

I mentioned this to my husband and he made a good point as to why they may be doing it - he says perhaps it is not even real mothers at all but hackers.

Apparentley if you click on links from people if they have the right software they can gain access to your ISP address and hack into your computer.

I had not thought of this at all, but just wanted to put it out there.

Anyone else know anything about it?

  1. Thanks for the warning.

  2. no i never knew that but i suppose it makes sense i dont mind yahoo answers but i think i might give it up soon i feel like im making a fool out of myself by thinking im talking to real people but there make believe

  3. Yes I agree, make sure you have good anti virus programme on your computer to stop this kind of stuff from happening. But the thing I find funny is that what do the trolls have to gain by hacking into a pregnancy and parenting part of a website, it is just laughable, lol.

  4. what about the ones that give a link and it is to a spam site!! they annoy me too

  5. I didn't know anything about this, I know about hackers but i thought that was just a handful of people and it was really hard to do. Not this easy. I never gave a second thought to these trolls being actually able to hack into our computers and gain bank details etc- its scary. I just thought about them using our pictures and thought that was bad enough!!!

It takes it to a whole new level. I thought that these people were bad enough to pretend to live whole different lives and steal pictures but to think they could be doing this to actually gain access to our computers? Wow.

I think we all need to keep our eyes and ears open to this, if we suspect anything we should warn others even if we could be wrong. Id rather be wary than totally unaware. Its a shame it has to be done like this, but i think its necessary now.

  6. I don't know much about ISP addresses, but apparently it isn't that hard to hack into someone's computer - If you know what you are doing.

For people like me, who have a hard enough time even getting the computer to turn on, it would be impossible. But the Man @ the computer shop told me there isn't much to it.

-- From what my Husband & his friend have told me & my 13yo niece, each computer and internet had a different address, like our street numbers. Although it can be changed, most stay the same. When they hack into it, they can gain entry into everything you have.

Apparently it can be shown on their computer, and they can just watch you. Makes it pretty easy to steal your bank details, and everything else.

    - It's like I don't know if anyone here has wireless internet access, you can use your neighbours access of that, if they haven't put passwords and everything on it.

--Speaking of passwords - Don't use something simple!! Even with your password helper - These trolls will befriend you, and if your like me, the troll after me got to know me VERY well. Make it VERY DIFFICULT!

--There is a program that does help with putting water marks on computer pictures. It is available at Harvey Normal Computer Shop (Australia) for $41.75. Also puts a number on your photo or something. Which when the picture is illegally taken it leaves a trail to find it.

--Also I did find it very helpful talking to the staff there, and they were more than willing to help me with my recent troubles.

And most importantly DON'T be like me. I was so naive, I swear I may have grown up under a rock. I have never felt so stupid for believing this.

    Question everything.

I went threw my *Trolls* contacts and fans list, I found the majority of them were level one or 2, with only her as a contact, and the same 3 people kept popping up. I know have over 120 people blocked, and I just give up.

Just be careful out there - It a big bad world.

A world away from my lil Tassie.

    See you all on 360.
